For Bicyclers, it’s ok just to read the book and let them get used to the concept. If your child is a Tricycler, go ahead and challenge them by asking questions like “What is pollen?” or “What do you think pollen feels like?” “What is nectar?” “Do you think it is sweet or sour?”
Take a look at this great animated video from SciShow Kids explaining pollen, nectar, and other parts of the flower. It also briefly talks about bees and other pollinators.
Next time you go to the flower garden during the springtime, point out the bees moving from flower to flower and ask them to recall some facts in the book with questions like: “Look at the bees flying from flower to flower. What are they doing?”
